the next generation
of craftsman
it all started in east sussex, england.
Growing up around old world craftsmen gave Brendan a deep-rooted respect for the art and tradition of woodworking. At 16, he went to furniture-making trade school in Cornwall and fell in love with surfing.
1999. Mendocino, California
Brendan caught bigger waves while working in cabinet shops, then transitioned into residential and commercial construction.
2003. Charlottesville, Virginia.
Restoring colonial homes as a capenter Brendan was introduced to dry stack masonary rock work.
2006. Vail, Colorado.
Wife Tiffany made the move to the mountains with Brendan. He expanded his skillset building townhomes, new homes and full remodels.
2010. Cumming, Georgia.
After founding his general contracting business in the peach state, Brendan and Tiffany soon realized that something was missing. They missed the West Coast.
2015. Whidbey Island, Washington.
Brendan and Tiffany agreed that this island surrounded by the sea was where they would raise their family. Brendan worked as a property manager restoring a 100 year old farmhouse before bringing Swell Woodworks to life.
in the business two decades and counting.
I have worked with Brendan on many projects. He is probably the best wood craftsman I have ever seen. He designed and built an incredible wine cellar for us. Also, on a much larger scale, Brendan did the interior remodel on our lodge in Mississippi, which included a perfect 20 foot stone fireplace which is the icon of the interior. He also beautifully erected the post and beam ceiling in the great room. I can’t say enough about his work. He is a real artist when working with both wood & stone.
